Develop A Relationship With Nature!

Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide available for guided walks for individuals and groups in local Butte County areas to experience Forest Bathing or Shinrin Yoku the Japanese practice of immersion in nature.

Also available on remote location and willing to travel.

Recently, I trained with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides & Programs link: ANFT to become a Certified Forest Therapy Guide. Nature is a way to engage in healing that inherently is trauma informed care. This training was a collaborative effort to certify 15 local professionals in Spring of 2020 in the Butte County area in a project from California State University, Chico Ecological Reserves named the Forest Therapy For Community Recovery Project link:FTFCRP. The idea is for recovery from trauma by immersion in nature for health and wellness. We trained at the link: BCCER Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserves an area of 7,835 acres to be returned back to the native peoples. We also trained at the Butte Creek Ecological Preserves link: BCEP. This collaboration included funding from North Valley Community Foundation and Butte Strong Fund link: NVCF. There are several community partners involved including Paradise Recreation & Park District link: PRPD, Butte County Office of Education, Enloe Medical Center, Camp Fire Collaborative link: CFC and Respectful Revolution link: RR. There is ongoing university and community partnerships and networks link: MM with the local native community link: CSUCTEK of Mechoopda, Maidu and Koncow link: TEK these locals teach the community in practices of acknowledgment of the land, learning about the context of culture and history of indigenous peoples, their Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Land Management practices link: GF including GOOD FIRE!

My goal in Forest Therapy guiding is to support people in their ability to have a unique personal relationship with nature and to feel safe in the woods and forests again after the trauma of the wildfires such as the Camp Fire. The forest is our home. As a fire survivor link: FIRE from Paradise, CA this work is sacred to me.
